Extract Audio from MP4 Files

Upload an MP4 video file and extract the audio track. Choose your preferred audio format and download instantly.

How it works

  1. Upload your MP4 video file. Drag and drop an MP4 file onto DomeScribe or click the upload button to select one from your device. There is no file-size cap for local uploads.
  2. Pick an output audio format. Select MP3 for a small, portable file, M4A to keep AAC quality intact, or WAV and FLAC for uncompressed or lossless archival copies of the audio.
  3. Extract the audio track from the MP4. Press Extract and DomeScribe will demux the audio stream directly from the MP4 container, preserving the original codec quality wherever possible.
  4. Download the finished audio file. Once the extraction completes, click Download to save the audio. The original MP4 stays untouched on your device while you get a standalone audio file.

Frequently asked questions

Which audio codecs inside MP4 files does DomeScribe support?

DomeScribe handles all common MP4 audio codecs including AAC, MP3, AC-3, and Opus. It automatically detects the codec and extracts or transcodes the audio to your chosen output format.

Will extracting audio from an MP4 reduce quality?

When you select M4A output from an AAC-encoded MP4, DomeScribe copies the audio stream directly without re-encoding, so there is zero quality loss. Choosing a different format involves a single high-quality transcode.

Can I extract audio from multiple MP4 files in a batch?

DomeScribe processes one file per extraction at the moment. Upload each MP4 individually and download its audio — the turnaround is fast enough to handle several files in quick succession.

Is there a file size limit for MP4 uploads?

There is no hard file-size cap for local MP4 uploads. Very large files may take slightly longer to process, but DomeScribe handles multi-gigabyte videos without issues.

Does the MP4 extractor work with screen recordings?

Absolutely. Screen recordings saved as MP4 contain a standard audio track that DomeScribe can extract just like any other MP4 video. This is useful for pulling narration or system audio from tutorials.
