What is DomeScribe Clip Studio?
Clip Studio is DomeScribe’s video clipping editor. You frame the shot, record your framing live while the video plays, add captions from the transcript, and export a 1080×1920 MP4. Editing and rendering happen in your browser.
How do I turn a long video into a TikTok or Reels clip?
Upload the video to Clip Studio, pick a layout, drag the frame over the part of the picture you want, press Record, and steer the frame while the video plays. Stop when the moment ends, add captions if you want them, and press Export. The result is a 9:16 MP4 you can post directly to TikTok, Reels, or Shorts.
Does Clip Studio upload my video?
No. The video opens from your device and stays in your browser while you edit; the export is rendered locally too. The only thing that can leave your browser is the audio your takes cover, when you ask for captions — it is transcribed under the same privacy rules as every other transcription on DomeScribe (encrypted transcript, 30-day retention, nothing offered for download).
Can I paste a YouTube or TikTok link into Clip Studio?
No. Clip Studio is upload-only and works on video files you own. Platform links are accepted in Transcribe Studio, where they produce a transcript and text outputs — never a copy of the media.
What layouts can I use for vertical clips?
Six: Full (one frame fills the phone screen), Stack (two frames, top and bottom), Trio (three frames), Spotlight (your frame on top, the whole scene below), Inset (natural size over a blurred backdrop), and Wide (the original 16:9 letterboxed on a blurred backdrop). You can switch layouts mid-take.
How do captions work?
Captions are generated from the transcript of exactly the parts of the video your takes cover, so you only pay transcription minutes for what ends up in the clip. Choose a preset (Studio, Impact, Pop), a font, a color, and a size, then drag the caption box into place on the preview. Auto captions transcribe each take the moment you end it.
What does the export look like?
A 1080×1920 (9:16) MP4 with your layouts, camera moves, and captions burned in — the format TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts expect. It is rendered in your browser and downloads directly; there is no render queue.
I recorded a bad moment. Do I have to start over?
No. Press Back up to rewind the end of the last take by 1, 2, 3, 5, or 10 seconds and record from there; or scrub the timeline back into the last take and press Record to record over its tail. You can also discard any single take from the list.
Is Clip Studio free?

Which video files does Clip Studio accept?
MP4, MOV, WEBM, and MKV files from your device. Because the editor runs in your browser, very large files depend on your device; most phone and camera recordings work as-is. Use a current Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox for export.
Does it pick the clips for me?
Clip picks — ranked moments with a hook quote and timecodes — are part of the AI pass on your transcript in Transcribe Studio. Clip Studio is where you cut the clip: you choose the moment, frame it, and export it. The two work on the same recording.
