Convert MOV to MP4 Online
Pick a MOV file and convert it to MP4 on your device. MP4 plays on every device and platform, which makes it ideal for sharing.
How it works
- Upload your MOV file. Drag your QuickTime MOV file into DomeScribe. MOV files from iPhones, iPads, and Final Cut Pro are all accepted.
- Select MP4 as the output format. MP4 is the default. Leave resolution and frame rate on "Original" to repackage the existing H.264/HEVC video and AAC audio into an MP4 container without re-encoding.
- Optionally downscale. If you want a smaller file, choose 1080p or 720p; DomeScribe then re-encodes the video as H.264 with AAC audio on your device.
- Convert and save your MP4. Click Convert. A remux finishes in seconds regardless of length; a re-encode takes longer because it runs on your own hardware. Save the result with a free account.

Frequently asked questions
Why should I convert MOV files to MP4?
MOV is Apple's native container and works well within the Apple ecosystem, but many Windows applications, Android devices, and web platforms do not support it natively. Converting to MP4 with DomeScribe ensures your video plays everywhere without requiring special software or codecs.
Will converting MOV to MP4 lose quality from my iPhone recordings?
Not if you leave resolution and frame rate on "Original": DomeScribe repackages the existing H.264 or HEVC video and AAC audio into an MP4 container without re-encoding, so the data is unchanged. Only when you downscale or change the frame rate is the video re-encoded (H.264, CRF 23).
Can DomeScribe handle MOV files recorded in HEVC?
Yes. HEVC (H.265) MOV files from iPhones and iPads are remuxed into MP4 as-is when no settings are changed. Note that some older Windows and Android devices cannot play HEVC; if you need maximum compatibility, pick a resolution so the video is re-encoded as H.264.
How long does it take to convert a MOV to MP4?
A remux takes seconds regardless of length. A re-encode runs on your device, so it depends on your hardware — a typical 5-minute 1080p clip takes a minute or two on a recent laptop, longer on a phone.
Can I upload the converted MP4 directly to social media?
Yes. An MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is what YouTube, TikTok, and virtually every social platform recommend. If the remuxed file contains HEVC and a platform rejects it, convert again with a resolution selected to force H.264.
